Michelle Hundley

As the Manager of Community Relations for the Port of Houston Authority, Michelle Hundley is responsible for advancing PHA’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Port of Houston is the largest foreign waterborne port in the United States and the second largest petrochemical complex in the world.

 

Before joining the PHA, Ms. Hundley served as the Regional Manager of Government and Community Relations for Air Products & Chemicals, Inc.. Her previous professional experiences include Government Relations Assistant Manager for the Port of Houston Authority, Legislative Aide to a TX State Representative and practicing law as an Associate District Attorney in El Paso, TX.

 

A graduate of the University of Texas-El Paso, Ms. Hundley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and psychology and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Hundley is currently pursuing a Masters of Professional Studies in Public Relations (M.P.S.) from George Washington University.

Ms. Hundley serves on the boards of Economic Alliance – Houston Port Region, the La Porte- Bayshore Chamber of Commerce, SPARK Parks, Inc. and serves as Trustee for the Houston Maritime Museum. She is also an alumnus of the U.S. Senate Leadership Summit for Young Professionals and the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Forum.

 

Ms. Hundley and husband, J.J. have a three-year old son, Ethan.

 

Ernest Powell

Ernest Powell is a native Houstonian that has never met a stranger. As a marketing executive for VALIC, he successfully manages a team of 42 with creative vision and planning to execute the company’s marketing initiatives. Ernest is responsible for the strategic direction of marketing communications for two lines of business: VALIC, a $69 billion corporation and Western National Life Insurance Company, a $ 46.6 billion corporation. He is also responsible for strategic fund partners alliance and vendor relationships.

 

Prior to joining VALIC, he spent 10 years with FedEx, six as a Marketing Manager and four as an Operations Manager. As a Marketing Manager for the Southern Region, Ernest was responsible for the National “Finders Keepers” Campaign that netted $13.8 million in the first year catapulting the southern region to the number one spot in the nation. He was also an Operations Manager for the largest FedEx location in Houston. He also held the position of Regional Client Relations Manager at C2 MEDIA for five years.

 

As a graduate of the University of North Texas, Ernest has several professional affiliations including: American Marketing Association, American Advertising Federation and Toastmasters International. He is also very active with Junior Achievement – a non profit organization committed to educating youth on business and economics.

 

Angie Sherrell

Angie Sherrell is President and General Manager of GS Marketing, Inc., an automotive direct marketing company serving the Toyota/Lexus dealer body.

 

She has twenty-seven years of diverse automotive experience, including information technology management , eBusiness strategy, dealer services and computer operations, and marketing and business process re-engineering. In her current position, Sherrell oversees an innovative direct marketing staff dedicated to the success of the Toyota franchise in both the parts/service and vehicle sales arenas.

 

Sherrell joined GS Marketing in 2002. Prior to her current position, Sherrell worked for Gulf States Toyota, an independent Toyota distributor, beginning in 1984 and held numerous operations, service and marketing positions, including Director of Dealer Services, Director of Information Strategy and Director of eBusiness.

 

Sherrell received a MBA from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management, Marketing and Computer Information Systems from East Central State University in Ada, Okla.

 

She resides in Houston, TX where she leads an active life involving family, friends, sports and caring for her dogs. She is an executive board member with Child Advocates, Inc., and was named one of the Texas Diversity Council’s Most Powerful and Influential Women in Texas in 2010.
